SunLike by ELEKTRO-LUMEN

SunLike

Full spectrum lighting uses a full spectrum of colours. The human eye is able to distinguish the colour spectrum’s light waves in the range of about 380—780 nm, while each colour is actually a wavelength. Before 380 nm the light is ultraviolet and past 780 nm the light is infrared. However, even though we do not see them, it has a fundamental effect on our body. Undoubtedly, the best source of light is the sun, which not only controls the circadian rhythms in the body, but also triggers an avalanche of other photochemical processes in the body. Appropriate choice of artificial lighting can have a similar effect as sunlight. Support for pro-cognitive functions can be used in almost any project. The spectrum of the SUNLIKE light source is close to natural sunlight with an increased proportion of blue and cyan components in the band 475 and 495 nm.

Lighting influence on biorhythm and hormone production

Most manufacturers only focus on the performance and luminous fluxes of LED luminaires. However, it should be borne in mind that in addition to basic functions (room lighting), artificial lighting can have other options that support cognitive functions and hormone production. Higher light intensity with a higher proportion of the blue spectrum supports the body to produce serotonin or cortisol. Serotonin has a beneficial effect on the body. It increases alertness and subjective tuning. Cortisol then helps the body to reduce stress better. Therefore, suitable light offers comfortable lighting with added value. Improving memory, attention or speed of decision-making is a bonus value, especially in educational or office projects. The benefit for long-term accommodation services is the correct production of individual hormones. In elderly care homes or hospital facilities, people’s psychological well-being can be improved by an indirect effect.

How Light Influences Body Chemistry

A recent study on a non–visual melanopic stimulus presented by Dr. Octavio Peres – a researcher in the artificial lighting field, has shown that a suitable natural spectrum has beneficial effects on human health and well-being. The study was performed at NY hospital’s operating sites, with one illuminated with full-spectrum illumination and the other with a standard tube. The result was a 15 % reduction in drowsiness, a reduction in procedure duration of up to 20 % and a simultaneous reduction in human error.

CRI index = the higher, the better!

Perception of light is individual according to the sensitivity of individual people, so the indirect effects of SUNLIKE luminaires cannot be measured with an exact value. However, international studies in this particular field show that this is the right way to improve a user’s quality of life. Sunlight is the optimal light in colour (CRI-100). The SUNLIKE product line reaches the CRI>95 value. Therefore, colour rendering is one of the parameters used to distinguish luminaires that are close to sunlight. This value will be appreciated especially by galleries, churches or other projects where it is possible to faithfully display exhibited objects or paintings. It should also be mentioned that the level of blue light is a suitable helper for day activities, but for night lighting it is necessary to significantly suppress this component and therefore allow the body to produce melatonin properly for quality sleep and rest.

CRI 75 / 85 / 95

Advantages of full spectrum lighting:

– supports visual acuity (better contrast)
– contributes to relieving eye strain, increased eye pressure and burning eyes
– allows undistorted colour perception
– eliminates the feeling of fatigue
– improves work safety, work performance and concentration
– alleviates hyperactivity and aggression
– suitable for children with impaired concentration and learning
– helps hormonal balance (serotonin/melatonin/cortisol)
– contributes to better synthesis of vitamins (especially A and D)
– helps alleviate and treat winter depression (SAD)
– in the winter months, it supports getting up in the morning
– increases sexual appetite
– helps the overall regeneration of our body
